Here's the thing - it costs you NOTHING to just not be an asshole to writers or artists or gifmakers or other fandom (or pro) creatives.

Like, okay, here's an example: I loathe A/B/O to the depths of my soul. I find the entire concept repugnant. You couldn't pay me enough to read it - even if my besties wrote it. Even if my favorite author in the world wrote it.

But here's what I don't do. I don't make my hatred someone else's problem. I don't comment on every A/B/O fic in my fandoms loudly proclaiming that it squicks me out and I wish the writer would write something else. I don't reblog A/B/O art or gifs and talk about how much I hate it in the tags. Because I'm not a fucking asshole.

It's okay not to like a trope or kink or to wish your faves were creating art that aligned with what you like. What's NOT okay is to try to bully your faves into writing something else. What's NOT okay is to shit on something other people find enjoyable. It doesn't matter if you don't like something - it matters that other people do, and if you aren't vibing with what your fellow fans are throwing down, the back button exists. Remove yourself from the conversation or the fic or the art or whatever it is, because fandom isn't about YOU.

And no one needs to cater to you.
